WTA Ranking : Sorana Cirstea back in the top 40.

Despite a disappointing run in Australia, Sorana is back in the top 40 by going up 5 place, landing at the 39th place ! But she still has to recover from some injuries and also she still struggle with confidence.

Australian Open 1st round Doubles : M. Kirilenko/A.Radwanska defeat Sorana Cirstea/A. Pavlyuchenkova : 6-0, 6-7, 6-2

This loss in doubles means the end of the Australian adventure for Sori ! But I don't think she'll go back satisfied home because her results were poor. She has to work a lot in training ( being more agressive, gaining on game cleverness, on her technique, being less nervous ) to get better results for the forthcoming weeks and tournaments. Also she has to heal her injuries : it seems she's a fragile girl at that side. She's quite injury prone. A thing to fix also with her doctor(s).

As soon as I know her future tournaments : I'll post her schedule.

Australian Open 2nd round : Sorana Cirstea defeated by Alisa Kleybanova 6-4, 6-3.

What I feared yesterday came with a defeat of Sorana ! Sorana lost the match by not converting the most important points of the match, also she lacks of fighting spirit and focus. But by going to the 2nd round, she made her best Australian Open so far in her career. But yet there are loads of things to improve if she wants to make a good 2010 season ! I believe in her without a doubt but she also has to believe in herself : that's another story.

Australian Open 1st round : Sorana Cirstea defeated Olivia Rogowska 6-3, 2-6, 6-2

Under the sun of Melbourne Sorana played today against local Olivia Rogowska and as I expected Sorana got the crowd against her but yet she played ok during the first set but I saw a Sorana who still struggles with confidence and also I don't think she is at 100% fitness as she still has troubles with an injury. I also knew, it wouldn't be a beautiful match to watch. Hopefully the game of her opponent wasn't great either at all ! Despite some stupid errors : Sorana did it ok to win the 1st set.

But the second set, It was terrible : Sorana couldn't hold her serve : she did it only twice if I good remember and also the fact she hit tons of errors : loads of ball too long or landing in the net , was passive as hell. A set where Sorana was very disappointing. She lost deservedly the second set with 6-2. But at the other side Rogowska's game was better than what she showed in the 1st set.

With one set all and the fact Sori was terrible in the second set, I thought : it's over for but hopefully she proved me wrong by playing better and finaly showing some decent stuff again. The Aussie couldn't answer to Sorana's game but I also think Olivia couldn't hold the level she put during the 2nd set and somehow collapse in front of her own crowd to eventualy lose the set and the match in 3 sets : 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

I'm relieved our Romanian got the much needed win. It was ugly but no 1st round exit again for her : that's the very positive note of the day but for her 2nd round the girl from Targoviste MUST put a much better fight and game if she want having a chance against Alisa Kleybanova. The match will be played tomorrow normaly.

Sorana will play her first round against local and Melbourne born Olivia Rogowska ( AUS ). No doubt Sorana will have the crowd against her ! Not a that good draw when we know the current form of Sori. Being focused and concentrated will be the keywords if she wants to qualify for the 2nd round. May she forget the crowd pressure. Hobart 1st round : Sorana Cirstea beaten by Shuai Peng ( CHN ) 1-6, 4-6

Sorana didn't play well at all and lost against Chinese Shuai Peng. Can't say much about this match.
